SUMMARY:ARCI Swallow-Tailed Kite Program at Lake Woodruff NWR
DESCRIPTION:Annual Journey of the Swallow-tailed Kite:  Breeding Requirements\, Migration Route\, and Winter Destinations \nLearn about Avian Research and Conservation Institute’s (ARCI) latest research on Swallow-tailed Kites.  Find out what kites look for in a breeding territory\, how they are one of North America’s most social raptors\, and the challenges they face throughout the year as they migrate 10\,000 miles between their U. S. nesting areas and winter locations in South America. Find out how you can help ARCI help Swallow-tailed Kites. \nGina Kent\, Senior Conservation Scientist\, Avian Research and Conservation Institute \nwww.arcinst.org \nGina Kent has worked for the Avian Research and Conservation Institute since 2000. Whether conducting bird surveys from small planes\, boating around the Florida Keys\, or climbing up 100-foot tall trees\, Gina has worked with many Florida specialty birds including Swallow-tailed Kites\, Short-tailed Hawks\, Snail Kites\, Reddish Egrets\, White-crowned Pigeons\, Magnificent Frigatebirds and others.  She grew up in Wisconsin and went to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  She received her Masters at Georgia Southern University on the stopover ecology\, habitat associations\, and parasites of Swallow-tailed Kites.  She is currently ARCI’s Senior Conservation Scientist. \nLimited to 20 Participants REGISTER HERE
