Summer Series Butterfly Walk (August 2024, Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area)

August 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Florida’s butterflies on our guided walk! Learn basic identification during our short indoor program highlighting features and differences between skippers, swallowtails, hairstreaks, and whites/yellows. Gain knowledge about the captivating lifecycle of a butterfly, exploring the journey from an egg to majestic adult. The education session will include photographs of butterflies commonly seen in our area along with some tips on how to enjoy butterfly watching.

Following the presentation, we will visit the native plant gardens to look for butterflies and their host plants. We’ll enjoy a bit of the outdoors before returning into the cool A/C to discover about native plants a pollinator habitat.
No prior knowledge or skill are required. All ages welcome. We will have field guides, butterfly checklists, and other resources available to enhance your enjoyment of the gardens.

In his retirement life he became interested in being involved in butterfly counts and protecting tracts of native, wild lands within our beautiful state of Florida.
