Explore the exciting world of bird identification with the help of the latest technology. Our I’ve Got an App for That Bird! workshop is tailored for adult learners (ages 16+). Professional birding guides and consultants, David Simpson and Dee Fairbanks Simpson (Birding with David Simpson) will share tips on how to leverage technology to enrich your birding knowledge. This hands-on session delves into the features, benefits, and best uses of three popular birding apps:
- Cornell Lab’s Merlin Bird ID: Learn how to identify birds using field marks captured in images with AI enhanced recognition. Improve your Birding by Ear skills by leveraging automated sound ID.
- eBird: Discover how to keep a detailed life list, contribute to community science, and explore bird sighting hotspots worldwide.
- Sibley’s Field Guide App: Master the art of field identification using detailed illustrations and field marks.
This workshop combines interactive demonstrations, hands-on app exploration, and group discussions to ensure participants gain practical skills and confidence in using these tools for birding. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced birder looking to enhance your tech-savvy birding skills, this session is for you!
